Repurposing an old building
In 2025, the building at Thoravej 29 will become a new stage for society’s most forward-thinking individuals and organisations. It will house a community for the ones willing and able to create groundbreaking change in society.
The building will comprise of workspaces, meeting rooms, collaboration areas, a studio for sound and video, a café, and in the centre of it all, a big stage for progressive debates and inspiring conversations.
In addition, Art Hub Copenhagen will set up studios, workshops, and exhibition areas for artists. Likewise, the HAUT residency centre will run a black box for performing-arts development. All of which is carried out in sustainable architecture.
The Transformation
Bikubenfonden, Pihlmann Architects, Hoffmann A/S, and ABC Rådgivende Ingeniører have been selected to carry out the transformation of Thoravej 29.
They work with a firm focus on sustainability. The guiding philosophy is to repurpose all materials from the old building to the extent possible. So, instead of disposing materials, we will repurpose them e.g., using floor partitions as stairs. And excess façade tiles will be salvaged for flooring.
The transformation is expected to earn DGNB gold certification and is due to be complete in 2025. We can’t wait to show you.
